The home is positioned on a Regency terrace on the coveted Sion Hill Place, which has been named by The Times newspaper as one of the six best streets to live on in the UK.  As well as an architectural history that would be envied by some of the world’s best homes, the house extends over five storeys and boasts 4,000 sqft of space. The Bathonian painter William Hayes took out a lease on this plot – formerly named Lower Crannells – back in 1809.  He commissioned John Pinch the Elder to build a palace-fronted Regency terrace in what was then considered a secluded and remote location. Positioned to take full advantage of its glorious southern prospect, the terrace – made up of just nine houses – was completed in 1818 and is considered Pinch’s finest residential work. The home is crafted with honey-colored Bath stone, with a noble façade of fine ashlar in the Palladian style, punctuated by expansive sash windows.  We took a tour and discovered some some refined heritage style ideas to steal for your home.

1. Make a stylish statement with botanical wallpaper in the bedrooms

Floral or botanical wallpaper is a timeless classic that was popularised in Victorian times by the likes of William Morris. Not only does it offer a grand yet cozy heritage look, it also brings the outdoors in for a relaxing and tranquil retreat. This master suite boasts beautiful blooms on the wall thanks to wallpaper from Colefax & Fowler (opens in new tab), which is paired with carefully curated art and antique furniture. The guest room is also bedecked with petals, which are given a further lease of life with an accent green paint on the woodwork.

2. Mix vintage furnishings with marble for a glamorous yet inviting kitchen

Team old and new styles for a timeless kitchen with a contemporary twist. Add a modern element with beautiful marble worktops, and decorate the room with vintage-style art, pots and rugs for an informal yet chic feel. If you’re looking for inspiring kitchen ideas that are infinitely stylish, be sure to take note.

3. Invest in freestanding tubs for bathroom grandeur

Bathroom ideas don’t come much more luxurious than the freestanding tub. This one above is positioned in a domical vault, which was once a cold store for meats.  Pair yours with herringbone tiles for an on-trend look that’s also classic, or create a traditional and decadent look with a circular shower curtain, as demonstrated in the home’s second bathroom below.

4. Embrace colour in the dining room

Fancy splashing a joyful sunshine yellow somewhere around the house? The dining room is a great space to embrace a bright hue for an uplifting ambience, perfectly apt for all those breakfasts, brunches and get-togethers.

5. Ensure you make an entrance with a stylish hallway

This spacious and wonderfully bright hallway has aged flagstones underfoot and a sculptural cantilevered stone staircase at its centre. Exquisite cornicing in a rosette and waterleaf pattern is supported by a dentil projection underneath. Add to the drama with ornate mirrors, and thread through a warm, informal element with rustic benches and antique-style pots and ceramics. This property is for sale via Inigo (opens in new tab).
