We put the NutriBullet Pro 900 Series Blender to the test for over a month, making smoothies, soups, and even blitzing cauliflower to make cauliflower rice, to test its versatility and power. While it won’t do the job of a family-sized blender, the quality of the blending is faultless. If you want a blender to make perfect smoothies, protein shakes, and refreshing drinks with crushed ice, it’s an excellent choice.

NutriBullet Pro 900 design

With 900 watts of power, the NutriBullet Pro 900 is a mighty bullet blender that should be able to power through even the most challenging ingredients.  It can frequently be found on promotion for well under $100, but it is still one of the more expensive NutriBullet blenders on the market. That is in part because of the range of attachments that come included with the NutriBullet Pro 900.  In the box there is a powerful NutriBullet base, an 18-ounce cup, a 32-ounce cup, flip-top and resealable lids, and a pro extractor blade. There is also a detachable handle to make it easier to drink your smoothie on the go.  The base is heavy but not so heavy that it will be difficult to move around the kitchen. It can sit happily on the kitchen counter with great clearance of the undersides of cupboards.  One thing I really like about the NutriBullet Pro 900 Series is its wide range of color options. I tried it in the silver color, but it comes in pink, champagne, black, berry, and even cobalt. Even the most quirky kitchen color scheme will be able to find a suitable match.

Using the NutriBullet Pro 900

Setting up the NutriBullet Pro 900 is very easy indeed. As with all NutriBullet blenders it is switched on by pressing the blender down onto its base, with the blade lid screwed into place, and twisting to lock it down. Once locked down, it will blend continuously until you are happy with the finished drink. You can also unlock the blender lid and give it a good shake to work through more thick smoothies, and smoothie bowls. The bullet blender is, as the name suggests, a blender with a bullet-shaped blending cup. This shape works best with smaller portions and is excellent at creating a vortex of blending power. Another advantage is that you can often drink directly from the cups.  When testing the NutriBullet Pro 900 Series I put it through its paces with some very tricky ingredients. This included tough stems of kale, frozen blueberries, and whole strawberries.  Once the blending lid was screwed tightly into place, it was a case of pressing the cup in the the NutriBullet base and twisting to lock it. I left it to its own devices for exactly one minute, and the result was very smooth with no unpleasant pieces of kale stem or remnants of frozen blueberry skin.  When my drink was finished I was able to screw on the handle to take it out to drink. This would be especially useful for morning runs to the gym, with protein shakes or healthy drinks.  The drinking lid clicks very securely into place, so it would be suitable to put in a bag or carry with worrying about spills.

Is the NutriBullet the top bullet blender?

I also put the NutriBullet Pro 900 Series to the test in a NutriBullet vs Ninja feature to see which bullet blender was best, and the NutriBullet was a clear winner.  While it lacks bespoke settings and an in-built timer, this was forgivable for the noticeable difference in the quality of the drink. It was a more vibrant green, and far more smooth and enjoyable to drink.  I’ve reviewed many of the best portable blenders, and while the NutriBullet Pro 900 is not cordless, it is a great option for portability if you still want a very high-quality result.

What else can it do?

While it is excellent at blending drinks, the NutriBullet Pro 900 is not the most versatile. It cannot be used to make hot drinks or soups, so it is better to wait for your soup ingredients to cool before using, and it also lacks a large multi-serve capacity to serve drinks for the whole family.  I used the NutriBullet Pro 900 to blend florets of cauliflower into fine cauliflower rice to eat with curries. I had to take it out of the base and shake it multiple times to allow all of the pieces to reach the blades, so unlike some blenders such as the KitchenAid K150 blender, it is best left to make smoothies. The best food processor will do the job much better, anyway.

Should you buy the NutriBullet Pro 900 Series Blender?

The NutriBullet Pro 900 Series blender is one of the best I’ve tried when it comes to making drinks such as smoothies and shakes. It is very good at chopping through ice and can take on even tough stems and frozen fruits to make smooth and fruity drinks.  What it is less good at is blending and chopping more solid ingredients, but for a blender capable of this you will have to spend a lot more money. For the price, you will struggle to buy a more powerful and effective blender.
