On their W Network show, real estate expert Drew (who discovers neglected properties) works with licensed contractor Jonathan to renovate fixer-uppers into unrecognizable dream homes – and with this process comes a wealth of knowledge about what buyers want the most in the current climate.  According to the brothers, 2023 is the year to revolutionize your laundry room ideas – and think big. A luxe laundry room is, apparently, what house buyers want.  Drew says well-organized laundry rooms are in increasing demand – and the most sought-after designs resemble a more luxe laundry suite. These suites often feature ‘a folding area, sink and cabinet storage,’ he explains to PureWow (opens in new tab).  ‘Some have special features, like a steam closet that dries clothes for you,’ so you can skip a trip to the dry cleaner. As Drew says, the most luxurious laundry room have smart features, such as the aforementioned steam closet. However, say the brothers, there is no doubt that all kinds of laundry rooms are popular amongst buyers. And, one of the most impactful ways to dress up an existing space to impress buyers is to efficiently organize your laundry room.  ‘Luxury’ features and a tidy laundry closet aside, Jonathan recommends installing a laundry room that is on the same floor as your bedrooms. Some homes, he says, are even adding a washer and dryer to a walk-in closet to ensure the chore is as seamless as possible.  As the Property Brothers suggest, luxe, well-organized, and well-placed laundry rooms are in demand in 2023.  But how else can you elevate your laundry room (and impress potential buyers in the process)? Jessica Petrino, educator and appliance expert at AJ Madison (opens in new tab), reinforces that location is key – but adds that you should look for appliances with noise-reduction features – especially in spaces close to the bedroom. ‘To keep the peace, one should look for models with vibration and noise reduction features,’ Jessica says.  ‘There are models which offer special sensors to keep heavy loads balanced, even at high spin speeds. This technology keeps noise levels low. From folding shelves to built-in sinks, automatic dispensing systems, antimicrobial parts, and Wi-Fi connectivity – today’s washers are powerful tools.’ If you’re working with a small laundry room, Jessica says that putting your appliances side-by-side can ‘provide valuable folding space’ – or in some cases, stacking the dryer on top of the washer is a ’true space saver.’  For more tips from Jonathan and Drew, shop for their book below.  This book is a comprehensive guide to renovating by the design duo themselves. It covers the ins and outs of buying, selling, and renovating a house, with hundreds of full-color photos throughout.
